In master's programs with thesis, the lecturer appointed as a supervisor sends the thesis proposal of the student to which he is the supervisor, to the institute directorate by the head of the department by the end of the second semester at the latest. Thesis proposals are approved by the institute management board (EU Graduate Education Regulation Article 15 (1)).
In doctoral programs, a student who has successfully completed the doctoral qualifying exam; It prepares a thesis proposal that includes the purpose, method and study plan of the research and defends it orally in front of the thesis monitoring committee within six months at the latest. Thesis proposal defense can be done face to face or via remote access after approval of the institute board of directors. The student must distribute the thesis proposal in writing to the members of the thesis monitoring committee at least 15 days before the defense date.
The thesis to be prepared at the end of the doctoral study;
a) Bringing innovation to science,
b) Developing a new scientific method,
c) It must fulfill one of the characteristics of applying a known method to a new field.
The thesis monitoring committee decides on the acceptance or rejection of the thesis proposal submitted by the student with absolute majority. This decision is forwarded to the institute directorate within three working days following the thesis proposal defense date by the head of the department. Thesis proposals are approved by the institute board of directors.
